Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF50+ PA++++ Review

2

Hi everyone,

Today I will be reviewing a sunscreen from the Japanese brand, Biore which is the Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence SPF50+ PA++++.  I have read good reviews about this sunscreen and wanted to try it for quite some time.  Then, I got this through one of the ebay sellers this summer and let’s see how it fared on me.

The Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence comes in a blue colored plastic tube packing which is also travel-friendly.  The sunscreen is almost like a gel-cream type and as the name suggests it is watery in texture and has a mild citrus fragrance which disappears few seconds post application. The sunscreen spreads well on the skin, gives a light cooling effect, gets absorbed quickly and leave a polished and hydrated feeling to the skin.  The best thing that I love about this sunscreen is that when I apply it even when my skin is dry with dry patches it never exaggerates the dry patches instead smooth it down and gives a slight moisturized looking skin.  This is one sunscreen that I did not have to massage well or wait for it to be absorbed both on normal or dry skin as it gets absorbed instantly even when applied in a generous amount.  It goes well with makeup and almost acts like a primer due to the presence of dimethicone and methicone in it.  I really loved enjoying using this sunscreen and has got a backup of it already along with the BB version of it to try out.   This is not a completely mattifying or a hydrating sunscreen either and does not make the skin greasy or dry instead look healthy.  It has a good sun protection factor and I never faced any tanning problem when I had this sunscreen on my face.  It can be used in the body as well but I find it costlier for that and also it is not easily available in Finland or other European countries.  This is widely available in few Asian countries like Japan, Korea, Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong etc.  This goes into my favorite list here as I am planning to repurchase this sunscreen in the future too and already brought a backup.

Pros:

Nice practical travel-friendly packaging

Mild citrusy fragrance that vanishes soon post application

Lightweight, non-sticky sunscreen that spread and absorbs well

Does not feel greasy

Does not produce any white cast

Will be hydrating enough for normal to oily skin in summers

Does not exaggerates dry patches

Leaves the skin looking hydrated if your skin is dry and parched

Keeps face oil-free for few hours depending on the weather

Has high SPF with broad sunscreen protection

Sweat and water resistant

Will suit all skin types (there is also a gel version of this sunscreen if your skin is very oily)

Cons:

Availability is a problem in many countries except few Asian countries

Has a long list of chemicals including methicone, dimethicone, alcohol which might not be suitable for some skin types

Prettykooll rating: 4.8/5

I love this sunscreen, especially it is a low maintenance product for my skin where I do not have to worry whether it is dry or oily and I can just slather it on the go.  Though it is not an herbal or natural based product which I usually prefer and does have a list of chemicals which I do not like but still I think this is by far one of the best sunscreens I have tried.  I have used few gel sunscreens in the past that goes well with oily skin with the humid weather but not when my skin is drier.  But, I can use this sunscreen irrespective of the weather and my skin condition.  This is not really a moisturizing or a drying sunscreen but just gives a healthy look especially when the skin is dry and makeup goes smoothly over it as it also acts like a primer due to the presence of silicones in it.  It would be so great if it becomes widely available at least in India.
