Burt’s Bees Orange Essence Facial Cleanser Review
Hello dear readers,
I am sorry for the long delay posting in the blog, the whole family fell sick for almost 2 weeks, it’s kind of influenza season in Finland and we were falling sick one after the other. My parents in India were also not doing well health wise, so we were all low in spirit for the past couple of weeks, but now everything is getting better and I hope to post regularly. Today, I am reviewing a favorite facial cleanser of mine which I have been using for the past couple of months which is the Orange Essence Facial Cleanser from Burt’s Bees. I wanted to try few Burt’s Bees products and picked up a couple of them, I have already reviewed the Lemon butter cuticle cream here and picked this up after reading the review by Shayoni from sweetandbitterblog.
The price varies from where you buy them; I got it from feelunique and it was ≅ € 13.96 for 120 g (≅ ₹ 1100) which is almost double in price compared to when you buy it from USA (US$ 8 ≅ ₹ 520); It is available in Sephora India and I am not sure about the price.
Ingredients & About the Product:
Glycerin, Olea europaea (olive) fruit oil, Limonene, Avena sativa (oat) kernel flour, Lanolin, Citrus aurantium dulcis (sweet orange) peel oil, Quillaja saponaria (quillaja) bark extract, Aloe barbadensis leaf juice, Avena sativa (oat) kernel oil, Helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil, Beta-carotene, Rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary) leaf extract, Tocopherol, Glycine soja (soybean) oil, Olus (vegetable oil, while vegetable), Canola oil (while de colza), Potassium sorbate, Sodium benzoate
As my skin is becoming combination dry and the cold weather and indoor heating in Finland contribute to the dryness, I do not use foaming cleansers in the morning skin care routine any more. I prefer gentle cleansers and loved using the ones from Forest Essentials, Just Herbs, though they produce some foam still it was gentle on the skin. Then I was using the tea tree cream cleanser from Fabindia which I reviewed here. When it got over, I was looking to try another gentle cleanser and purchased this one, oh I am so glad I tried it. First starting with the packaging, it comes in a white plastic sturdy tube with a cap. The cleanser smells divinely of oranges, it feels as if you just take some orange and crush it on your face, it has such a natural smell but definitely not overpowering, so even people with the sensitive nose will enjoy the fragrance. The product is creamy, yellowish orange in color, and spreads well on the skin. The cleanser does not produce any lather at all, it has lots of oils in it but when you wash it off with water, it completely gets rinsed off. I usually use warm water to wash off but have tried with cold water and still it washes off well. It might feel oily, but the moment you pat your skin with a towel it leaves the skin moist, hydrated and so supple. This feeling might be completely new to you if you are not used to very gentle cleansers or if you use normal foaming cleanser usually as you will not get that tight ripped feeling because it leaves the skin really moist and hydrated. I have used it in my eye area and there was a mild stinging sensation nothing strong for me, but it might be strong for some people. This is not a magic or miracle product, but you might fall in love with it depending on your skin’s need. I am not sure how well it will fare on the very oily skin and I do not use it to remove makeup as you need a large amount, it is costly, so I do not want to waste it. This can be your everyday morning gentle cleanser or the one you can use after removing makeup with makeup removers if you have dry skin. I am in love with the product and will repurchase it always but the cost of paying double makes me skeptical to buy it often. If I live in the USA, this would always be the one I buy, but for now, I ma looking for my friends and my sister to bring me this in bulk next time when they visit me. I am planning to place an order for at least 3 or 4 tubes when they visit me next time. One tube lasts me for 2.5 months as I need only a little amount and I use it only in the morning. Finally, this might not be everyones cup of tea or sometimes it might be, but you have to try it to see if you like it. This definitely goes to my list of favorite products here.
Hydrating facial cleanser that leaves face moist, soft & supple
Spreads well and washes off without leaving any residue
Smells lovely of Orange
Doesn’t dry out skin
Leaves a moisturized nourished feeling after rinsing
Ingredient list looks promising with 99% natural extracts & oils (the two chemical ingredients listed at the end are Potassium sorbate & Sodium benzoate which are used as mild preservatives and hence the shelf life is 12 months from the date of opening)
Not sure whether people with very oily skin and those who are used to foaming cleansers might like it (but there is a huge range of foaming cleansers available)
You might need more quantity to remove heavy makeup or wash cloth to remove it completely (but there are so many makeup removers available in the market)
I felt a mild stinging sensation when used in the eye area but some might feel it strong
Availability and the cost difference is definitely a problem other than the USA and few other countries
Prettykooll Rating: 4.8/5 (Just because it is one of the most gentle cleansers I have come across)
