Forest Essentials Lip Scrub – Cane Sugar Review

4

Hi everyone,

I have never used commercially available lip scrubs in my life, I usually DIY using sugar, oil, honey and that too I do it very rarely may be once in 6 months if I remember to do it, or sometimes when my lips feel very dry or need some nourishment.  But the one thing I do often is, I apply lip balm in excess overnight and in the morning after brushing my teeth I brush my lips also using the same toothbrush that removes all dead cells revealing healthy moisturized smooth lips.  This is one I have been following many years and happy with it.  Lip scrubs never caught my attention as I thought I might never use it and it might be a waste.  But, when Forest Essentials launched the cane sugar lip scrub, I wanted to try it just like I wanted to try few other FE products.  The one lip scrub that I was actually eyeing was the bubblegum lip scrub from Lush as I love bubblegum fragrance but when I smelled it in Lush stores I did not actually like the fragrance or maybe it did not fit of what I thought would be the fragrance, not sure, I have to smell it once again to make sure.  But, coming to today’s review is the cane sugar lip scrub from Forest Essentials, let’s see how well it fared on me.

Hi everyone,

Hey everyone,

I used to use face washes twice a day and after my skin started to become more combination dry due to cold weather in Turku, I started using non-foaming gentle cleansers in the morning after waking up and normal foaming face washes in the evening after coming from work.  One such cleanser is the Tea tree cleansing milk by Fabindia.

I wrote in the review post of Forest Essentials day lotion that I liked a night cream from the same brand and this is the one I love which is meant for oily/combination-oily skin.  The product comes in a luxurious glass tub packaging with a golden cap but it is bulky and hence not very travel-friendly.  The cream smells so soothingly and divinely of real Jasmine flowers and I think even if you are not a fan of floral fragrance you might like this one as the smell is not artificial or too strong.  I love the smell of jasmine flowers and usually stay away from jasmine fragrant products as most are either artificial or strong smelling, but this one smells really really good just like smelling real jasmine flowers.  Oh, I can keep buying this again and again for the smell, do not get too carried away by my ranting as I am a fan of such fragrance but smell it in the stores if you can before buying it.  But, the smell stays for sometime on the face and then fades away.  The cream is buttery smooth,  non-sticky, spreads easily and get absorbed well into the skin.  The cream provides enough moisturization for my skin type and hence will be suitable for oily & combination-oily skin people, but if you have dry skin and also if you get dry patches during winters like me then the moisturization will not be enough.  I sometimes mix with few drops of almond oil or other essential oils like rose with the cream to boost up the moisturization during winters, though, I have another night cream for winter, but use this just because I like it a lot.  My face do not appear oily in the morning but feel supple and hydrated.  They have  another night cream for dry skin type and I have used it too, love it and use them only in winters as they will be rich for me otherwise.  One tub lasts for 2.5-3 months if used daily as little quantity is enough. It is costly like most of the Forest Essentials products and I did not find any drastic improvement or difference in my skin tone. But, it goes into my favorite list here and I will keep re-purchasing it especially for the warmer months because it is a really nice cream that absorbs well, does not make your face extra oily, provide enough nourishment and more for the smell too, but the fragrance part is a personal preference 🙂 My main concern is the price which has also hiked compared to couple of years earlier but otherwise I love this cream a lot.

Pros:

Beautiful luxurious looking packaging

Light-weight, non-sticky buttery smooth cream that spreads and absorbs well

Does not feel greasy

Moisturizing and does not make face oily in the morning

Love love the smell

Natural herbal product free from petrochemicals, animal products, PEGs, synthetic colours, alcohol and parabens

Cons:

Costly like most FE products and they have hiked the price from ₹1395 last year to ₹1595

Bulky packaging hence not so travel friendly

Does not show any big difference  or improvement to the skin

Moisturization will not be enough for dry skin, but I do not see it as a con as it is meant for oily skin & combination skin

Forest Essentials Facial Toner Pure Rose Water Review

1

Hi everyone,

Today’s review is on the Forest Essentials Facial Toner Pure Rose Water.

ro1

Price: ₹ 1025 for 200 mL,₹ 575 for 100 mL and ₹ 325 for 50 mL.

You can buy it in the Forest Essentials stores or online through Forest Essentials website.  I got the travel size bottle that consists of 50 mL of rose water. I have already reviewed the Kama Ayurveda Rosewater here.

Buy online from amazon.in

About the Product: The skin requires a gentle boost after cleansing to rehydrate and tone it and prepare it for your nourishing routine. Our pure and active water-based toners are made from floral, fruit and herbal extracts, captured and crystallized at the height of potency, essential to the Ayurvedic philosophy; to hydrate, tone and revive the skin.Rose has cooling, soothing and moisturizing properties. It is naturally hydrating. Its seductive floral scent, promotes a feeling of well being and harmony.

Rose is amongst the best tonics reported in Ayurveda for their skin benefits. Fresh Roses are steam distilled for the essential oil and the hydrating rose water residue is used for the facial tonic mist.  These are 100% natural and free from any Parabens, Petroleum, GMO, Sulphates, Formaldehyde, PEGS, artificial colour, synthetic fragrance and animal testing.  No artificial fragrance.

I love using rose water as a toner, to mix with face packs, as a finishing makeup mist, as a face refresher on hot or cold days and thus, have tried rose water from a variety of brands.  This one from Forest Essentials comes in a colorless classy sturdy packing with a pump.  The rose water is colorless, does not have any artificial fragrance and smell soothingly of real roses which is not overwhelming and will very well suit people with sensitive noses or people who do not like rose scents. I mostly just spray the rose water to my face after washing my face with face wash leaving it to air-dry.  My face feels lightly hydrated, soft, skin feels soothed and this rose water will suit people with all skin types.  Basically it is a great rose water which is completely pure, but the high price tag will not be economical if you use rose water very often for various purposes.  However, if you would like to pamper your skin, then give it a try and you will love it.

I have reviewed the rose water also from Kama Ayurveda, and did not find any difference between the rose waters from Kama Ayurveda and Forest Essentials.  Both are produced through steam distillation process and  it is well known that both the brands produce products with high purity.  Forest Essentials has increased their prices this year compared to the previous years.  Rose water from both the brands are costly, but if I have to pick one I will pick up the rose water from Kama Ayurveda as it is lesser in price but of equal quality compared to Forest essentials.  If I need to find any difference between the two, then it is the pump.  Kama Ayurveda sprays a fine mist that can be used to set makeup whereas Forest Essentials does not spray the mist as finely as the one from Kama Ayurveda.  So, mainly except for the price differences, both make excellent pure rose waters.

Pros:

Classy sturdy convenient spray bottle packaging

Smells mildly and lovely of real roses

Leaves the skin lightly hydrated

Soothes the skin

Pure 100% rose water with no added, colors, chemicals or fragrances

Can be used on all skin types

Cons:

Costly

Availability as they can be brought in Forest Esentials stores which are found in only few cities, though they do have online shopping

I reviewed the Lavender and Neroli Light Day Lotion from Forest Essentials and this is my second review on another product from the same brand.  I got the travel size bottle of 50mL to try the product and it comes in a transparent sturdy packaging with a golden cap.  The transparent packaging lets you see how much is left and it comes with a inner lid to avoid spilling of the product during traveling.  The cleanser is white in color with thick consistency, so it is difficult to dispense the product as it does not have pump. The facial cleanser has a mild lavender fragrance which is not bothersome to me, but some might not like it.  The cleanser is light weight, spreads easily with water, rinses off well without leaving any residue and a little goes a long way.  As a makeup remover, it removes mild makeup effectively, but if you have waterproof stubborn makeup then you have to use the cleanser 2-3 times to completely take it off.   It does not sting the eyes when used around the eye area.  The cleanser does not dry the skin and would be great for dry skin and other skin types during cold climate, but if you oily/combination oily skin, you will feel the need to wash your face with regular face wash especially during summers. All in all it is a good cleanser, though not a must-have and there are other options too in a similar price tag or lesser.

soy5

Pros:

Thick creamy texture that feels light on skin

Spreads well and washes of without leaving any residue

Cleanses well leaving soft smooth skin

Little quantity is enough so it will last for quite some time

Does not leave skin dry

Does not irritate skin or sting eyes.

Ingredient list looks good

Cons:

Due to its thick texture dispensing it is somewhat difficult

Fragrance might not liked by all

Costly like most FE products and they have hiked the price from ₹850 last year to ₹950

Forest Essentials Lavender & Neroli Light Day Lotion Review

6

Hey everyone,

Today’s review is on the Lavender & Neroli Light Day Lotion by Forest Essentials.

for1

Price: ₹ 1595 for 40g

Ingredients: You can check the ingredient list below.

Product benefits: Forest Essentials Light Day Lotion is a silky light weight lotion that steeps into the skin easily leaving it soft and smooth with a non-greasy feel. It contains Ayurvedic herbs like Ashwagandha and Gokharu along with Almond, Wheat germ and Olive oils which not only provide nourishment but also prevent the skin from the damaging effect of free radicals. Regular use of this light day lotion helps your skin to retain its natural texture by repairing the damaged cells and giving an even toned skin with the light fragrance of Lavender and Neroli.

You can buy it from their stores or online from ForestEssentials

I liked the night cream from Forest Essentials and thought to give this day lotion a try as it is meant for oily skin.  The product comes in a golden luxurious pump packaging, but is completely opaque.  This makes it harder to see how much product is left.  The lotion smells strongly of Neroli and might bother sensitive noses, but I liked it.  The smell stays for sometime on the face and then fades away.  The lotion is not very runny, it is of medium consistency,  non-sticky, spreads easily and get absorbed well into the skin.  But, one problem is that if I apply during hot or humid condition, it makes my face sweat which I did not like.  But during cold condition, this does not happen.  The lotion will provide enough moisturization for my skin type and hence will be suitable for oily & combination-oily skin people.  They have other variants for dry skin types also.  This contains SPF25 which is an added advantage.  The lotion does not make the skin oily and infact it made my face oil-free for 4-5 h depending on the weather condition.  One bottle will lasts for 2-2.5 months is used daily. It is costly like most of the Forest Essentials products, it is a good moisturizing lotion with SPF25 and I am not sure about its long term benefits as I have used just one bottle of it.  But I did not find any improvement or difference in my skin tone.

for4

Pros:

Beautiful packaging with pump

Light-weight, non-sticky lotion that spread and absorbs well

Does not feel greasy

Moisturizing with SPF25

Does not produce any white cast like some sunscreens

Keeps face oil-free for 4-5 h depending on the weather condition

Natural herbal product free from petrochemicals, animal products, PEGs, synthetic colours, alcohol and parabens

Cons:

Costly like most FE products and they have hiked the price from ₹1395 last year to ₹1595

Cannot see how much product is left due to the opaque packaging

The smell is somewhat strong when you apply, which might bother sensitive noses

Makes face sweaty when applied during hot or humid weather condition

Does not improve skin tone or make any difference to the skin
