Empties Post – 6
It’s already March and it seem this year is going fast for me. How about you? Do you also have similar feeling or is the year dragging? This is another empties post and actually I had more empty products than those shown here. I have finished a Lakme concealer, lip balm etc but my husband accidentally deleted few pictures from the camera memory card and I was left only with these empties. It’s sad that I collected all the empty products and the rest which is almost equal to the number of products shown here was deleted and I could not retake them as I threw those empty containers 🙁 So now let’s move to the empties shown here.
This is a gentle cleansing milk not so thick and works well as an everyday morning cleanser that’s gentle on skin. I am not a great fan of the powdery fragrance, otherwise the cleanser is lightweight, spreads easily with water, rinses off well without leaving any residue. It also removes mild makeup effectively and it does not moisturize nor dry out the skin. You can read the complete review of the cleanser here.
This face wash lathers a little but effectively cleanse the face and also removes mild makeup. It washes off easily, does not leave any slippery feeling or residue after washing if you use lukewarm water, but if you wash in cold water you have to wash few extra times for the slippery feeling to vanish away completely especially if you have oily or combination oily skin. The face wash does not strip off the moisture completely and hence will suit dry skin and it does not give that stretchy or tight feeling. I liked using it during the freezing winters in turku and you can read the complete review here.
Fabindia Facewash – Honey & Frankincense
This is another face wash from Fabindia which is a SLS based face wash and though it feels non-dyring on the skin when washing due to the presence of glycerine and honey but gives a stretched tight feeling after some time of washing the face. This will, suit oily and combination oily skin people but not for people with dry skin especially in winter. This also needs more water to remove the slippery feeling if you wash your face with cold water rather than with warm water. I could not post the complete review as I lost the pictures I took for the review.
This toner is colorless, smells of a mixture of rose water with oranges and this particular smell is not my favorite though it is mild and not bothersome. I mostly just spray the toner to my face after washing my face with face wash leaving it to air-dry. As the same case with rose water, my face feels lightly hydrated and skin feels soothed. But for the smell and price tag I prefer other rose waters a lot. You can read the complete review here.
This rose water is colorless, does not have any artificial fragrance and smell soothingly of real roses. I mostly just spray the rose water to my face after washing my face with face wash leaving it to air-dry. My face feels lightly hydrated, soft, skin feels soothed and this rose water will suit people with all skin types. Though it is pricey and availability is a problem, it is a very good rose water and I am happy I got to try this. I also loved the rose aloe gel face pack from this brand. This is my favorite sunscreen from a Japanese brand and I like it’s watery texture, but at the same time it also hydrates my face enough during summers and has a broad spectrum sun protection. When in a hurry if I skip moisturizer also this does not aggravate my dry patches instead kind of smooth it down and makeup glides very well on it due to the presence of silicones though it is not on top of the ingredient list. I try to stay away from non silicone based products as they sometimes dry out the skin in the long run but with this one, I did not face such problem, may be because the silicones were not on the top of the ingredient list like as in some other products. This is my summer skincare companion and I already restocked one tube of it for the coming summers and also purchased a tinted variant of it. It is hard to find in India and Europe and the first time I got it through ebay from Japan and repurchased it through my brother when he went on a trip from Kuala Lumpur airport. This is another sunscreen I used during summer-autumn months and that does not give a matte finish, but at the same time does not look greasy on my combination dry skin but for oily skin it definitely needs to be topped up with powder and might feel greasy during summer. I have tried applying BB cream and foundation on top of it and it all applied smoothly on top of it, I usually apply this, then my compact and good to go most of the times. The sunscreen has SPF50+ with broad protection and the mild tint actually brightens the complexion and give a slightly even tone to the skin and hence can also be used as a light makeup base. The cream is little thick in texture but spreads well and get absorbed into the skin within few seconds of massage. Once absorbed, it leaves the skin well hydrated and does not feel greasy at all. But, one problem is due to its thick texture, if you are prone to sweating it might sweat a little, during heavy winters I do not feel any sweating but during less cold climate, it sweats for some time around my mouth and nose. This will feel heavy for oily skin people but will suit people with combination and dry skin. You can read the complete review here.
This has a gel cream like texture, light weight, spread well and get absorbed well into the skin with massaging and does not give any greasy or sticky feeling. The night cream provides enough moisturization for my skin type when my skin does not have dry patches especially in summer and hence will be suitable for oily & combination-oily skin people, but if you have dry skin and also if you get dry patches during winters like me then the moisturization will not be enough. As soon as I apply, I can feel that it has alcohol content and it slightly irritates my dry patches and if I continuously apply it for few days continuously my dry patches starts getting more drier, this is similar to the L’oreal night mask-in jelly which I loved but had the same problem due to high levels of alcohol. You can read the complete review here.
I have oily combination skin and in winters my skin gets drier but this face mask does not dry the skin after washing. It keeps the skin supple and soft if you used religiously, I use it once a week, but it can also be used twice a week too. It is a thick paste but spreads well on the skin due to its moistness and it is advised to leave it for 10 minuets, but mostly I leave it for 20-30 minutes and wash it off when it dries. The Body Shop Drops of Youth Concentrate
I got this sample size in one of the fab bag last year and was happy to try it. It is light weight non sticky and was absorbed instantly by my dry skin. I used it alone or then with Life Flo rosehip oil and it enhances the moisturization effect when used with the rosehip oil On its own it is not enough for my dry skin but it is meant to be used along with other products especially from its own line. I really liked it but not sure whether I will purchase the full bottle in the future.
Votre face serum is watery, non-sticky, spreads easily and get absorbed well into the skin. I have dry skin in winters and so I take around 8-10 drops of the serum and apply it with massaging, it gets absorbed instantly. I would say my dry skin just drinks up the serum even when I apply more than 10 drops or in excess. So, the moisturization it provides is not completely enough for my skin type as it is dry in winters and I use a night cream after it, but sometimes I just apply only the serum when I do not feel too much dryness on my face. It would also be great to give the complete ingredient list instead of mentioning Q.S. It is a nice serum but did not bring much improvement to my skin and has a high price. I used the AVA face and body moisturizer during late autumn and beginning of winter when my skin was combination dry with few dry patches. The moment I opened this lotion I loved the smell, it almost smelt like my favorite Forest Essentials Night Treatment Cream Jasmine & Patchouli, but the more I smelled it I know they are close but still different in the way they smell. Both have a mild jasmine fragrance, but the FE ones smell more mild and divine compared to AVA one but still I was happy as the smell was not overpowering and did not feel artificial and the price is very affordable if you use it as a face product. This moisturized the face well and kept my face free from dry patches. You can read the complete review here.
So, this complete this empties post. Which products from the above have you used and liked? The one product that I have repurchased from the above list is the Biore UV Aqua Rich Watery Essence sunscreen which is also my favorite sunscreen.
