La Roche-Posay Lipikar Xerand Hand Repair Cream Review

Hey everyone,

Today’s review is on the hand cream from La Roche-Posay which is the Lipikar Xerand Hand Repair Cream for severely dry skin.

Price: €5-6 for 50 mL (do not remember the exact price); ₹350-430 for 50 mL

Ingredients:  You can check the complete ingredient list here.

I have already mentioned in one of my old posts that my all time favorite hand cream is The Body shop Almond hand cream.  I always have that with me but at the same time I also try out new hand creams and one of them I got to try out is from LaRoche-Posay.   The hand cream comes in a white plastic tube with cap attached to it.  I find these type of packing perfect for on the go or travel and the packaging is also sturdy.  This hand cream smells pleasantly and mildly and the smell vanishes in a couple of minutes post application.  The hand cream is not very thick nor runny but spreads well and get absorbed easily into the skin. With couple of seconds of massaging the cream in the hands, they get absorbed completely and leaves the hands moisturized.  But, the moisturization effect lasts only for few hours , so re-application is required, same applies if you wash your hands too. I would have liked it more if hands remain soft or moisturized after washing, but the effect is completely gone as soon as you wash your hands.   It is meant for severely dry skin but does not fulfill its claim as it is not an intensely hydrating cream, so it will suit people who have normal skin in their hands. The hand cream does nothing to the cuticles though they do not claim to do so, but I would have liked it more if it had softened the cuticles.  Overall, it is a nice hand cream though not a must have and I do not plan to repurchase it in the future.

Sturdy convenient packaging

Creamy texture that spreads and get absorbed very well

Smell is mild and pleasant

Moisturizes the hands decently for couple of hours

Does not feel greasy

Free of parabens

Availability in India (I have not seen it in online websites too)

Moisturization effect is short-lived

Reapplication every few hours is necessary

Moisturization effect will not be enough for dry skin or for normal skin in winters

Contains Dimethicone which might not suit who are allergic to it

It is meant for severely dry skin but does not live up to its claim as it is not intensely hydrating

Surprising it claims to be for very dry hands yet has such a short staying effect. Maybe I’ll just stick with TBS hand creams only 🙂

TBS hand creams are pretty good

Do we actually need a moisturizer for more than 4-5hrs in a day? Arent we going to wash our hands? For nights I think its not a suitable cream but for days I think I can give this one a try plus this one is not heavy on pocket as well 🙂

Sure for days this will be enough as we will wash hands frequently, but I would have preferred that the skin still remains soft or moisturized like the TBS ones, with this one as soon as you wash your hands the skin becomes dry as usual.

This seems like an average product. Too bad the moisture doesn’t last long. Thanks for reviewing it.

I expected it to be intensely moisturizing too
