L’Oreal Paris Hydra Fresh Mask-In Lotion Review
Today I will be reviewing the L’Oreal Paris Hydra Fresh Mask-In Lotion which you might have seen in my recent empties post here. I have already used few products from the L’Oreal hydrafresh range last summer and you can read the reviews about them in the following links
₹ 425 for 200 mL
Ingredients & About the Product:
You can read more about the product here (the packaging differs in some countries)
I got the mask in lotion and the night mask- jelly from India whereas I brought the other two products from the hydrafresh range from Australia through eBay as they were not available in India and there are other similar variants available in India. I used the mask in lotion during last autumn, then took a break druing winters and used the Burt’s Bees range and used it again this spring and finished it up. Read to know how this product worked out for me.
The L’Oreal hydra fresh mask-in lotion comes in a plastic transparent bottle with an opening that dispenses the right amount of product and the bottle is also quite sturdy and travel-friendly. The mask-in lotion has a colorless slightly thick watery gel texture and has a mild pleasant fragrance which fades away as soon as you apply it on the skin. If you apply more than the required amount it feels sticky on the skin and takes some time to absorb completely, but if you apply the required amount then it absorbs well into the skin. If you have oily skin do not use it as this will feel heavy on your skin and might not absorb well but for normal to dry skin people this will not be a problem depending on the amount used. The 200 mL will last you quite for some time like 4-5 months depending on your usage. As mentioned on the product web page this can be used as a toner, essence or mask. I would say this is heavy for a toner but can be used either as an essence/moisturizer or as a mask. I use it both ways and some days I apply a lot on the skin and leave it overnight as a mask but on other days I just apply it like a moisturizer mostly at night. This is a bit tricky lotion because if you apply a bit excess then your sunscreen or other products you apply on top will slide and not go well on the skin, so I mostly keep it for night time use in the place of night cream. But, the best use for this lotion is to use a drop of it along with a matt based BB/CC cream of foundation like the Pond’s BB cream, it makes the application more smooth on dry skin or dry patches on the skin without altering the shade even a bit. But, the main drawback is that though it prevents the formation of dry patches, it does not heal the existing dry patches or do not provide any nourishment or any other benefits for the skin.
Has a slightly thick gel water like texture that gets absorbed when applied in required amount
Can be used in the place of essence or moisturizer
Act as a barrier on top of the skin thus protecting the skin from drying
Little amount is needed so it will last for 5-6 months depending on the usage
Can be used to make matt based BB/CC creams of foundations hydrating without altering the shade
Will be a good moisturizer for normal skin during winters
Can be used as a leave-in mask overnight
It takes time to absorb if applied a bit more than required
No other improvement in skin can be seen other than hydration and it does not heal dry patches
Cannot be used alone for dry skin during winters
Contains a long list of chemicals, so if you prefer more natural based products, you might not like this
Prettykooll rating: 3/5
Thus, overall I felt that L’Oreal hydra fresh mask-in lotion is more like a moisturizing liquid that works as a barrier on the skin but does not provide any benefits otherwise. The best way to use this is with BB/CC creams during winter to make it more hydrating as this does that very well without altering the shade or texture of the cream as only a drops or two is needed.
