Lush Serendipity & Bohemian Soaps Review
I have wanted to try Lush products for a long time but the Lush shop is available only in Helsinki, the capital of Finland. So, when we went to Helsinki for a trip, I went to the Lush store and was overwhelmed by choices. I wanted to try the much-raved angels on bare skin facial cleanser, but I had my other facial cleansers to finish off, I am currently getting quite well organized in buying things especially skincare and makeup, I do not buy before finishing off my current products or do not buy just because they look pretty or cute, I buy only when I know that I will use them soon and so I thought I will buy the cleanser some other time as these cannot be stored for a long time. I tried the another much-raved bubblegum lip scrub but felt the fragrance was too artificial, so skipped that too. Then, at last, I rounded up to soaps as I know I will be using them anyway and so brought 2 variants fo their soaps. Now, going straight to review of how they fared for me.

The variety of soaps Lush makes vary according to different season except some from their permanent line and when we went in fall last year we got these two variants. Serendipity is a lavender soap and smells lovely of lavender, if you like lavender fragrance, you will definitely like it. The soap lathers well, wash off easily and does not leave the skin dry. But the problem was it was made with real lavender flowers embedded around the soap, you cannot see it clearly in the picture and so first it was ok, but when I used it quite a few times and when the soap started reducing in size the dried lavender flowers started showing out well and started giving scrubbing effect to the skin which was not at all mild. It spoiled the whole relaxed bathing experience as I had to be careful in using it due to the lavender flowers and they were concentrated quite well so sometimes it just scratched my skin. I loved the fragrance a lot but due to this problem, I did not use the soap completely and threw it away, as I could not withstand the harsh scrubbing effect when the soap got reduced to half.

Lush Bohemian Soap
Around € 5.75 for 100g (≅ ₹430)
Ingredients(taken from lush.fi website)
Rapeseed oil, coconut oil (Brassica napus, Cocos nucifera), water (aqua), glycerol (glycerine) , sorbitol, lemon oil (Citrus limonum) , sodium (sodium stearate), sea salt (sodium chloride), EDTA, tetrasodium etidronate, sodium hydroxide (sodium hydroxide), * citral, * limonene, * linalool, perfume (parfum) .
This soap is lemon based and has a mild citrus fragrance felt very refreshing, it is more a summer kind of soap as the name Bohemian suggests and if you have dry skin, this might feel a little drying. The soap lathers well, wash off easily, was very smooth to use and no scrubbing effect like the serendipity one. But my husband first started using it and after a couple of uses, he got some red rashes on his skin and thought he might be allergic to this soap stopped using it. So, I thought of using it as I am usually not so sensitive to new products. I also got red rashes after a couple of times so started using my other soaps. But, then to make sure, I used it again and each time I used it I got either rashes or got this scratching sensation. So, I threw away this soap also before I could completely finish it off. I think this soap gave us some allergic reaction and I was quite surprised because I have used a number of both natural based and other normal chemical based soaps for a long time and never faced such as issue. The ingredient list looked quite nice and had ingredients which you find in other products and so I am not sure what caused the allergy or is it just a random occurrence.
Prettykooll rating: 2/5
Thus, I did not have very pleasant first experience with Lush soaps and I think I made the wrong choices of selecting them. So, next time I plan to visit Lush, I am going to try those products from their permanent line just to make sure thy work for me and I do not waste it the cost of Lush products are higher in Finland compared to few other countries.
