I was using my all time favorite Lotus herbals 3 in 1 matte sunscreen for a long time and it was perfect for my oily combination skin type for the summers in India, though I use it most of the year round except during the colder months when my skin become more combination dry. But, in Turku, the sun is strong starting from the spring but the weather is slightly cold and hence my skin is still on the combination dry side and the 3 in 1 matte sunscreen did not go well with the dry patches. So, I started looking for new options and I liked the one from Fabindia which is the Vitamin E sunscreen – spf45 that I have reviewed here. But, then I needed a change and tried 3 different sunscreens and the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF50+ is one of them. The product comes in a plastic tube packaging which is sturdy and travel-friendly. The sunscreen has a chemical type of smell which I am not sure how to exactly describe, but it does not bother me and fades away in few seconds post application. The cream is thick but spreads well and gets absorbed within few seconds of massaging it well into the skin. If you apply more than required, it will take some time to get absorbed but once absorbed, it does not leave any white cast on the skin. The sunscreen does not exaggerate dry patches instead soothes them up, but if you have severe dry patch then it might show after application. This does not give a matte finish, but at the same time does not look greasy, I think this will suit all skin types, though for dry skin you might need a moisturizer as this does not hydrate the skin. But, one thing I have noticed is that if you apply it on tops of a heavy moisturizer or moisturizer that leave some stickiness on the face, then this does not go well on it as it cannot be absorbed completely by the skin and leaves a white cast. So, if you are using a moisturizer make sure you use a nongreasy one and apply sunscreen only after your moisturizer is completely absorbed by the skin. I tried using this on top of the L’Oreal Paris Hydra Fresh Mask-In Lotion and the combination was really disastrous. The sunscreen has SPF50+ with broad protection, is water resistant and is a very good sunscreen in hot humid weathers as it does not slide off the skin. I use this during swimming and it helps me in preventing the tan.
