Neutrogena Body Oil (Light Sesame Formula) Review

20

Hi dear readers,

Today I am reviewing a body oil from Neutrogena which I got to try it out as an alternative from the usual body lotions,  I also got it along with the Biotique Carrot Seed Oil which I have reviewed here.

My body skin is on the dry side and I use intense moisturizing lotions when I am in Finland due to the cold weather which aggravates the dryness.  I tried the Biotique carrot seed oil when I was in India in July and then I also brougth the Neutrogene one which I used in August in Finland when it was still summer. The product comes in a plastic bottle packaging and the opening dispense proper amount of oil, so it was quite practical and was also travel-friendly.  The oil is light yellow in color, had a subtle fragrance which is not bothersome.  The smell stays on the body for 1-2 hours and then vanishes away.  The oil is slightly runny, felt light, spreads well on the skin and have to massaged well into the damp skin as given in the instruction for a minute or two to get absorbed completely.  It also moisturizes the skin well if your skin is on the normal side and the moisturization will be enough for dry skin in summers when applied to damp skin immediately after a warm shower.  But, the moisturization effect will not be enough for people with  dry skin or even for others during very cold weather.  The oil does feel sticky for some time especially if the weather is hot and humid and it will take at least 20-30 minutes of the sticky feeling to go away completely.  But, it does not stain clothes about which I was quite happy.  I felt that the oil gets absorbed very well and quickly after a hot shower like many body oils as the pores in the skin will be open which aid absorption.  But when you bath in normal water, it does take a longer time to get absorbed completely.  The problem with using this oil is that it absorbes better after hot shower which I usually take during winters but is not moisturizing enough to be used during winters.  So, it does not practically suit me to use it, but I still used it in Finnish summers as we take bath in warm water and also during autmun alternating with a body lotion so that my skin still gets the needed moisturization.

Pros:

Practical travel-friendly packaging

Has a subtle smell

Lightweight oil that spreads well

Gets absorbed within few minutes of massaging after a hot shower

Feels very light on the skin and does not feel greasy once absorbed

Will suit people with normal skin people

Does not stain clothes

Cons:

It is not intensely moisturizing, so will not be enough for dry skin people or others in very cold climate

Feels greasy/sticky till it gets absorbed completely

Take at least 20-30 minutes to get absorbed completely if you had shower in normal or cold water, so it is best to be applied on damp skin after a warm shower

Cannot be used in hot humid weather as it will take more time to get absorbed and for the stickiness feeling to go away

Would been better if it did not contain paraben as preservative as it is an oil and some prefer body oils as that they do not contain any added preservatives

Prettykooll rating: 3/5 (You will love this light weight body oil if you have normal skin all year through, so you can use it in winters or cold season after a warm shower)

I’m currently using it. But I use it before shower, feels calming.
But yeah the moisturization is definitely not enough.

I never knew Neutrogena had a bath oil. I don’t like bath oils because of their stickiness.

I don’t really like using oils on my skin (I prefer body lotions/body butters) but this one seems nice & inexpensive! Thanks for the review! <3
