Pond’s White Beauty BB Cream Review

Hi all,

Today’s review is on the Pond’s BB cream which I have been using for the past couple of months.  The cosmetic market is now crowded by bb/cc creams from various brands both Indian & international.  I have never tried BB creams till last year as most of the days my base makeup routine to work is just applying moisturizer and top up with compact powder.  After my delivery, my skin tone became uneven, so I thought of giving the bb/cc creams a try and have hoarded few of them.  I will review the Pond’s one this time, let’s see how it fared on me.

     ₹ 325 for 50g; ₹ 140 for 18g

About the Product:

Ponds presents to you the White Beauty BB+ Fairness Cream with SPF 30 PA++ that provides instant coverage of spots and lightens the skin from within to help reveal your perfect natural look.

Gen White Technology

Enriched with a special formula, called GenWhite, this fairness cream helps in regulating the genes that influence melanin production. Besides, this formula also provides protection against UVB rays to prevent tanning and skin darkening, so that you have a radiant skin all day long.

Non-oily and Smudge-free Formula

Infused with Vitamin B3, Vitamin E and Allantoin this cream gives you a non-oily, non-pore clogging and light texture. Moreover, this dermatologically tested cream is deemed suitable for all skin types.

The product comes in a white plastic tube packaging which is sturdy with a small pump dispenser covered with a transparent cap. I think the smaller ones comes in a tube without the dispenser, but the 50g ones come with the dispenser.  I would have liked it more if it just came with the normal opening to take out the product as the dispenser sometimes get struck and do not work.  I faced this problem a few times and have to remove the cap and somehow managed to get it working again.  The BB cream has a usual cosmetic fragrance which is found in few Pond’s products that fades away quickly post application.  The cream is thick and is almost like a sheer foundation and you really have to massage it well into the skin to get absorbed.  If you apply more than required, it will take some time to get absorbed and there will be white cast initially that settles down in few minutes.  The shade is slightly lighter than my skin tone, thus leaving a white cast initially but it gets adjusted to my skin tone in few minutes. The BB cream has SPF30, brightens my face, gives an even skin tone, covers minor marks/imperfections, gives a matte finish to the face and stays well till I remove it in the evening in the Turku weather.  In hot and humid climates, it stays for very well for few hours and I can still see traces of it when I remove my makeup.  People with oily skin can apply it as such especially in summer times, but others with dry or combination dry skin like me has to apply it on top of a moisturizer otherwise it enhances all dry patches.  It is really a good BB cream if your skin matches with the shade but it is a pain to apply when you are in a hurry as it has to be massaged well to look natural and especially the skin should be very well moisturized so that it does not enhance the dry patches.

Widely available

Malfunctioning of the pump dispenser

Prettykooll rating: 3/5 (If you have oily skin and if your skin matches the shade of the BB cream, you will love it a lot compared to those of you like me who have combination dry skin  where it enhances all the dry patches even on well moisturized skin)

It is quite difficult to blend compared to other BB creams in the market. I prefer Garnier BB cream to this any day.
