Review on Amritam Aloevera Soothing gel from Good Earth

There are quite a number of aloe vera gels available in the market at various prices from Patanjali, Aroma Treasures, Nature’s Essence, Fabindia to Forest Essentials. Amritam aloe vera gel is different from the above in the way that it contains 100% aloe vera juice and not the gel itself.

Price:  ₹ 450 for 120 mL

About the Product:  A simple safe gel for babies and mamas that can be used for sunburn, insect bites, dry skin and also to remove traces of nappy rash. Contains essential oils of lavender, basil and stabilized aloe vera juice 100% in a base Q.S. with natural edible grade. Contains no petrochemicals and 100% herbal product.

I have tried the amritam rose water from Good Earth, which I liked a lot, and this is my second product from their amritam range.  You can buy this either from the Good Earth stores or from their online shop GoodEarth (they offer both domestic & international shipping).  The gel can to be used for both mothers and babies. I have used aloe vera gel from patanjali and fabindia in the past. They were more gel like as they contain aloe vera gel as such but the texture of this product is different from them as this contains aloe vera juice instead of the gel itself. The gel is almost colorless but has a light greenish tinge to it. The product comes in a transparent plastic tub with a white cap.

The product also contains the essential oil of lavender and basil that you can smell as soon you open the tub. The smell is quite strong and people who have highly sensitive nose or who do not like the smell of lavender or basil may not like it. I love the smell of lavender and though it is strong I got used to it in a couple of days. I have been using it for the past one month and I am mainly applying this to the body of my 8 months old baby. As she has got dry skin, it provides the needed moisturization for summers and is lightweight, but this will not be enough for winters. I have also used it on my face quite some time back, which is combination-oily, and it gets absorbed very easily and provides a soothing effect. The smell lingers on for quite some time. It provides good moisturization but people with dry skin might not get enough moisturization especially in winters. All in all it is a good product that fulfills its claims though not a must-have and it seems costly compared to the other aloe vera gels available in the market. But as it contains essentials oils and the texture is different it feels better compared to the other gels I have used.

Soothing light-weight gel with essentials oils

Absorbs well if not over-applied

Can be used safely for babies too

Temporarily relieves dryness, soothe sunburns and nappy rash in babies as mentioned

One tub lasts more than two months if used daily on face only

Provide enough moisturization for oily skin or combination-oily skin people for both summers and mild winters

Keeps face oil-free for some time

Not enough moisturization for dry skin especially in winters

Take time to absorb if applied too much

Costly when compared to few other aloe vera gels in the market
